Description

This role supports the FAA Office of Communication's Media Relations office, which serves as the public face of the FAA, providing timely, accurate information on FAA programs and activities to the media and the public.

Responsibilities

Assist Public Affairs Officers with daily communications activities, including but not limited to announcement rollouts, press conferences, and media coverage.
Monitor incoming media requests through the division press box.
Create and manage media market lists for various media outreach efforts using Cision, GovDelivery and other similar tools.
Prepare and distribute daily news clips on various topics using a specific format and complete them in a timely manner.
Draft press releases, statements, communications plans, and media briefings.
Create daily or weekly media analytics and metrics reports for various deliverables, products, and topics.
Manage and input data from Public Affairs Officers into appropriate tracking tools.
As this role potentially involves a number of high-visibility projects, it requires a very high degree of attention to detail.
The position is currently hybrid/partially remote, and the person in this position must be capable of working proactively and independently in a remote working environment.

Skills and Experience:

Five or more years of experience in public relations/media relations, journalism, or related field.
The ideal candidate will have experience in government/public sector media relations or an aviation-related field.
BA required, ideally in a field such as English, Communications, Journalism, etc.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Experience writing press releases and media relations content is preferred.
Experience using media outreach tools such as Cision and GovDelivery
Self-starter, with ability to manage tasks and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Interest in aviation is a plus!

Requirements:

U.S Citizenship is required.
Candidate must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
This position is hybrid and will require on site presence in Washington, DC for video and photography shoots.
